CC201 locomotive is a locomotive made by General Electric U18C type. Compared to the previous type locomotive CC200, CC201 is the type of construction has a more slender weighing 84 tons and engine power of 1950 HP. This locomotive bergandar Co'Co '. This means that the locomotive has two bogies each 3 or 6-wheel-drive axle with 6 traction motors, so the locomotive can be operated on a flat and mountain cross.
Usage in Indonesia
CC201 locomotive consists of four generations, namely:
CC201 Generation I
CC201 Generation II
CC201 Generation III
CC201 Rehab (Ex-BB203)
CC201 Generation I
CC201 locomotive generation I was brought to Indonesia in 1977 as many as 38 units. Beginning of the arrival of the locomotive is colored by the accident at the time of this locomotive was on its way from the factory, GE in the United States to Indonesia by boat to the sea. In the journey, the ship was hit by a locomotive that carries storm, causing the ship anchors and other charges in it fell on three of the eight CC201 locomotive. This makes the front of the three locomotives were wrecked. Arriving in Indonesia, the locomotive that survived the disaster that can be directly operated. But for a wrecked locomotive is not the case. The third locomotive had to undergo repairs in advance for a little over a month. The characteristics of the CC201 Generation I was on the net a large radiator. In addition, in the beginning all the locomotives of this generation do not have fog lights on a hanger as CC203/CC204 cow. However, since the locomotive underwent PA (end of maintenance) in the year 2010-2011, there are some units that have been fitted with fog lights (including CC201 series 05, 17, 18R, 20, 23, 24, and 26R).
CC201 Generation II
CC201 Generation II brought in the year 1983-1984 amounted to 34 units. Very easy to recognize. Same characteristics as CC201 Generation I, but the net is small radiator. Windshield, rectangular shape with pointed ends. This locomotive was originally also had no fog lights. However, since the locomotive underwent PA (end of maintenance) in the year 2010-2011, there are some units that have been fitted with fog lights (including CC201 series 46, 55, 60, 61, 62, 64, & 70).
Back in the cab-cab locomotives Generation II is there that is quite unique, which is owned by Dipo Parent CC201 56 PWT. Its uniqueness is: on the front (shorthood) has a different shape dibandngkan with other CC201. In the sand box that is usually shorter than the windshield and extends downward. The inside is also quite unique because there is only one service desk so that the cab driver becomes more widespread. This view of the underlying difference is because the first locomotive ever hit stoomwalls CC201 56 locomotive was wrecked, resulting in severe and difficult to restore it as the original form. To fix it, Balai Yasa Pengok around this by removing one service desk of the locomotive so that the automatic windshield should be taken down and the sand box was shortened. Because of this peculiar form, the Forums are often called "Donald Duck Loko (Ducky Locomotive)". Previous CC201 47 YK's depot also has the same shape as CC201 56, but now form the second locomotive was back to normal like any other CC201 after undergoing PA (Maintenance End) at Balai Yasa Pengok, Yogyakarta.
48 that formerly belonged to CC201 locomotive depot has now been transferred to YK Tanjung Karang (KNP), Lampung to meet the needs of freight there.
CC201 Generation III
Imported in the year 1991-1992 as many as 21 pieces numbered series of 91 to 110 and 120. For CC201 91 to 110 are in Java, while CC201 120 are located in Sumatra, the locomotive depot at Cape Coral (KNP). CC201 98, 101, and 102 who previously owned the locomotive depot and JNG BD has now been transferred to Kertapati (KPT), Palembang to meet the needs of freight there.
The characteristics of this generation CC201, which are below the fog lights in the sand box cowhanger CC203/CC204 like a locomotive. In addition, the shape of the windshield of the locomotive is somewhat rounded, in contrast to previous generations CC201 box-shaped windshield. This is what makes this generation CC201 looks very different from the earlier types so it is easy to recognize. While for the engine components, performance, and speed, together with other CC201.
CC201 Rehab (Ex-BB203)
Locomotives of this type is not an original CC201, but the rehabilitation and repair of locomotive BB 203 starting in 1989-2004. Shape, size, and the main components of the locomotive is the same as CC201 locomotive, the difference is the arrangement gandarnya. If the locomotive bergandar Co' CC201-Co 'where every bogienya has three wheel-drive, locomotive BB203 bergandar (A1A) (A1A), where each bogienya also has three axles, but only two axles in each bogienya used as wheel-drive. If CC201 locomotive has six traction motors, locomotive BB203 has only four traction motors.
In Dipo Parent SMC, all locomotives CC201 is the result of his rehab from BB203. So also with the CC201 in Sumatra. Dipo Parent and the PPN in KNP, all CC201 locomotive was also a result of rehabilitation of BB203, except that the CC201 120 CC201 and CC201 original 98, 101, and 102 which is the original CC201 moving from Java.
To its characteristics, this locomotive is almost the same as the CC201 Generation II. That distinguishes it, namely the serial number is added the code "R" behind the serial number. For example, CC201 77R, the code "R" here indicates that the locomotive is a locomotive rehabilitation outcome of BB203.
Exceptions to CC201 coded "R" in the series under 70. CC201 under 70 who use the code "R" (eg CC201 01R, 14R, 18R, and 26R) is the original locomotive CC201. Code "R" does not mean it is the locomotive of the BB203 rehab. This indicates that the locomotive has been done has been overhauled and repaired all of its components so that the locomotive can increase speed and can last up to tens of years later.
CC201 Divre version III (South Sumatra)
CC201 locomotive in Java generally have the same shape with BB203, but not in South Sumatra (Divre III). Some there CC201 locomotive has a shape very similar to the CC203 in Java. Of body shape is no different, but from the form of exterior and interior cabin CC201 in Divre III is identical to CC203 (wide cab). CC201 locomotive which has an exterior like CC203, CC201, namely 86R, 111R CC201, CC201 120R, 201 CC 129R, 130R CC201, CC201 137R.
